Chicago, Illinois, USA The Continental Africa Chamber of Commerce USA in collaboration with Ministry of Trade and the Embassy of the Republic of Cameroon announce that:

 

Background: AGOA Status: Cameroon is eligible for AGOA since its enactment in 2000. It also qualifies for textile and apparel benefits. Cameroon has been admitted as a member of the Kimberley Process. Trade Agreements: The U.S. and Cameroon signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) in 1986 that came into force in 1989. US Cameroon total two ways trade was $550 million in 2011.

 

Trade statistics: U.S. goods exports to Cameroon in 2011 were $221 million, up 67.0% ($89 million) from 2010 with top exports products of machinery ($80 million), aircraft ($18 million), vehicles ($16 million), plastic ($15 million) and various donations ($18 million).U.S total imports totaled $330 million in 2011, a 11.2% increase ($33 million) from 2010 with top exports of mineral Fuel and Oil ($212 million), Cocoa ($36 million), Rubber ($35 million), Wood ($28 million), and Spices, Coffee, and Tea (coffee) ($12 million).

Africa, the new face of emerging markets, offers great potential for American businesses and investors.  The Forum will provide a dynamic platform that:

  • Presents to American corporate and public-policy makers the wide array of investment opportunities  in Cameroon
  • Discusses the ways in which these opportunities can be realized
  • Meets participants’ strategic interests by creating networking opportunities and an avenue for the development of bilateral investment possibilities
  • Provides one-on-one negotiation opportunities
  • Encourages American companies to exhibit their products and services; and
  • Invites African businesses to exhibit their products under AGOA
